Hi!! This is Hallie. We've been trying to call but we just get the message line. We are calling him Buddy. Casey calls him prince too because he's his little prince. He's doing great, he's so different now that he has a home. He's been sleeping with us and he loves lots of attention. We are so happy:) Thank you so so much. I have lots of great pictures of him but Casey wanted me to send you this one. I'll have to come by and show you how good he loves on my rug.

Kity
(formerly known as Gremlin)

So sorry I'm late in sending this email as things have been very busy for my daughter & me.  Just wanted you to know how much we love "Kitty" (aka Gremlin) & he is the coolest cat I've ever been around.  He is very much a large part of our family & even gets along with our Boxer, Zeus.  They don't nap together yet but can see that happening soon. Thank you so much again.  We love our "Kitty" so very much!

Montgomery (formerly known as Skittles)

Hey Street Cats!

I adopted a 9 month old cat from you in March. He came to me as "Skittles" but we've changed his name to Montgomery. We call him Monty for short. He has adjusted quite nicely. He's been declawed and is such a lap cat! He loves to give kisses, play with just about anything and has recently discovered his love for laying in the bath tub. Montgomery is a great cat and even better family member!

In the pictures- Montgomery meeting Lizzie, my wiener dog, for the first time. Montgomery on the laptop with my boyfriend. Montgomery watching TV.

Thank you for such a wonderful friend.

Tiger and Lily
(aka Cisco and Annie)

Hello Street Cats,

My little buddies, Tiger and Lily, alias Cisco and Annie, are no longer little kitties...they are big cats!  Lots of food and affection has turned them into real treasurers, and they have even managed to coax Sunny, our 18-year-old, into playing with them. All of them really go after the laser light toy, and Lily would love to chase it longer than I let them play with it, but I have to wind it down after a few minutes of madness because Sunny can't handle that frantic pace for very long. He's a really old cat, and I don't like to play with his favorite toy when he can't join in the fun, too.

Lily has discovered she has a voice, and she chatters all over the house, tossing and throwing her toys everywhere in the thrill of pursuit. The cats have about 5 dozen various toys of all shapes and sizes, including a 10-inch furry teddy bear that Tiger hauls all over the house. Lately, Lily has discovered playing in the bathtub, and every day I have to clean out about a dozen mice and balls before I can bathe. She will sit in there, calling and talking, until Tiger goes to see what she wants, and then I get to listen to the two of them thrashing and rolling in the tub until they wear themselves out. It is positively hysterical. Lily also likes to ambush us as we walk from one side of the house to the other. She will hide just out of sight around the corner or behind a piece of furniture and jump out at us with a twirp, as if to say "BOO!" when we get in range. Then she turns and races off to hide around another corner or another piece of furniture, waiting to start the fun again.  I know she does this with Tiger, too, because I can hear them in the other room.  The two of them play so hard together!

Tiger has found his place on the cat furniture in the TV room, where he will spend hours watching the birds and squirrels that we feed outside in that area. The baby squirrels will come right up to the screen, and it's so comical to watch them sniff each other through the screen. No one has a fear of the other. Everything is so new to Tiger that he gets into everything to check it out. When he gets tired, he comes and bumps his head against me so I will pick him up and cuddle him and baby-talk to him.  He has bonded tightly to me, but he likes to play ball with my husband. He cuddles with me for his nap, and he likes to get under the covers and snuggle in the bed at night. He taught himself to play ball, and he will spend hours playing fetch and toss with my husband. He loves the little soccer balls, and those are the ones he will go get and bring to us to throw for him. We've tried other soft rubber balls, but he only likes the soccer ones, and they are so hard to find!  I think we have two dozen of them scattered across the house now, and he plays with all of them. He brought a green one and a pink one to me, but he's now on top the bookcase, too tuckered out to play anymore. I think I can hear him snoring!

Tiger and Lily still sleep wadded together, but they are not as dependent on each other as they used to be. It is Tiger who seems to need his sister more than she needs him. He will go look for her when he is ready to nap, and she can usually be found on the back of my husband's reading chair in the living room, so Tiger will curl up on the seat of the chair. They will stay like that for several hours...until Lily decides it's time to ambush us again.

We take all the cats with us when we travel. We are retired, so we take several trips a year to see family members, and the cats are free to roam about the RV while we are driving, but Lily still suffers from motion sickness. I don't know if she will ever outgrow it or not.  Our Moppet cat, who lived to be 19-years-old, never out-grew motion sickness, and Lily may be the same way. We now stick to main roads and take curves really slow, trying to keep Lily from becoming too sick.

Tiger and Lily are wonderful pets, and Sunny has taken to grooming them, so he was really needing a buddy after his best friend Rusty died of old age last year.  None of the cats are allowed outside, but they have a big house with floor to ceiling windows in every room, and they are all very happy and adjusted.  I just wanted you to know that the two little babies I got from you are doing wonderfully, and we are so grateful to have them. Through the years, all of our pets have been rescue pets, even the dogs, and every single one of them have been terrific. I can't imagine life without my furry pals.

May 2007

I adopted Rose and Lily last July (2006) and they're doing great! Their new names are Lucy and Ethel, and they love to snuggle together, and are both loving and adorable. They seemed at home right away, and they love to watch the birds and the squirrels outside the windows. Lucy is true to her name - a natural comedienne who sometimes finds herself in a fix (stuck behind the dryer), and Ethel is just as sweet as can be. They both run to greet me when I come home, and follow me around wherever I go.

 Thanks for bringing us together!

Tiger & Lily
(formerly known as
Annie & Cisco)

Hello Street Cats,

I thought you would like to see Annie and Cisco (now known as Tiger and Lily) at home. We have had them one month now, and they still sleep snuggled together. They have so much energy that my 16-year-old Sunny can't keep up, especially when all three are chasing the laser light toy, but they are doing great and love their new home.  Each of them carries the little soccer balls around in their teeth, meowing and talking like crazy, and they love their play mice. They can play for hours in the cat furniture we have. Sometimes, I can find them both asleep in their condo, and it is so obvious they have played themselves out!

At night, they sleep wadded together on the bed with Sunny only inches away, but I can't get a photo of them like this because they get up and follow me around. They love me to pieces, and I love having them lie all over me, purring and kneading, so it is a good match for all of us.

Sunny has now taught Tiger to meet my husband at the garage door when he gets back from playing tennis or golf, and he picks them up and tells them what great cats they are. It is so funny!  I hope the attached photo will show you how happy and adjusted they are living with us. love reading how the other adopted cats are doing.

Take care,

Jim, Sandy, Sunny, Tiger and Lily

Harlow (formerly known as Lizzie)

I brought home my little bundle of joy, Harlow (formerly known as Lizzie), on September 5, 2005, and my life has not been the same since! She is the most precious, affectionate, sweet little cat I have ever met! It took her about two hours to adjust to her new residence (two hours of non-stop exploring and searching) before she settled down and became completely at-ease and comfortable. My boyfriend, who was never a "cat person," fell in love with her within the first ten minutes of meeting her. He came in the apartment, laid down on the couch, and she immediately hopped right up and plopped down onto his chest. "Something's wrong with her breathing!" he said. "Dustin," I said, "that's called purring!" He didn't know anything about cats, so every new thing was a big discovery. Her rough tongue, trying to get up a hairball for the first time, getting the crazies, etc. She loves playing with her toys (especially when we play with her), napping, stretching, scratching, finding bugs, staring endlessly out the window at the birds, eating special treats (tuna, wet food) and being with her little family. She can be quite naughty sometimes, I will admit. She loves to do all four things she's not allowed to do (get on my counters, scratch the couch, eat our food, bite/scratch us), but we haven't yet figured out how to get her to stop! She had her first birthday on June 17, and we had a little party for her. I tried to get a picture with her "Birthday Princess" hat on, but, guess what?? She wouldn't wear it! So, if anyone's been wondering about Lizzie, she is doing wonderfully and we love her more than we could have ever imagined! She is the light of my life! Thank you so much!

Rusty & Dash

Rusty and Dash * Adopted Jan 14, 2006

Rusty, orange tabby, and Dash, gray and white, stole not only my heart, but the heart of my two sons (ages 3 and 6) and my husband. In March, we moved into a new house and these sweet, rotten, loving and crazy kittens are having the time of their lives. They now have lots of hard wood and tile floors to bat their mice around on. Rusty recently received a soap bath from our 3 year old and Dash tries to scale the window frames and loves to play behind the curtains. Thank goodness for Wal-Mart $2 curtains! What joy and happiness they have brought to our house and to everyone that visits! They both have won Granny's heart!

Tammy & Truman

   Hello Streetcats!

Truman immediately adjusted into our home; he is very loving.  Tammy readily accepted him and they have become the best of friends.  They sleep together, groom each other and play together like they were raised together.   We really enjoy watching them play and sleep - they are just so adorable.  Thank you for rescuing cats and finding good homes for them.  Truman has filled our hearts with joy.

Thank you so much! We adopted Callie Monday and she is already a member of the family. She is very playful, active, and curious. My sons (1 1/2 and 3 1/2) follow her around all day. She jumps and runs and lays on her back to let them rub her tummy. When the boys are asleep, she follows me and sits on my lap each time I sit down. She's a very happy, sweet cat. We just love her! Thank you for saving her and helping us to find just the right cat when we were ready. Good luck finding homes for all your other kitties!

Tucker
(aka Wyatt)

We picked up our boy Tucker (previously Wyatt) at the end of November and he has been a ball of fire since!  He is an active, rough and tumble boy who can shred any toy in a matter of minutes!  But he can purr as loudly as any kitty and knead his way into sleep and snuggles at bedtime!  He has adapted to ‘his’ house very nicely, enjoys playing and watching the birds and finding new places to lose his toys!  He is wonderful kitty and we are happy to have him in our family.

Joie
(aka Curry)

My name is Amisha Catanzaro, I adopted Curry this past Saturday.  I am just writing to let you know Joie (aka Curry) is doing very well.  He is getting adjusted to his new home.  He loves his mouse toy and his wand and he loves to curl up w/me on the couch and take a nap.  He loves to sit in the window and watch the birdies, and he absolutely loves to sit in the sun!  He is not too crazy about the cat nip toy he has nor his treats!! But he's getting used to the idea of pottying in his new litter box.  He's not too sure about the lid on it.

He's been a very good boy!

Thank you so much for this wonderful kitten. He is already loved so very much.

Thank you.

Aslan
(aka Happy)

Aslan (formerly Happy) has become a much-loved member of the family since joining us last December.  She’s a cuddly girl who purrs loudly and loves to sit on laps or curl up next to you.  She enjoys sleeping next to someone, but sometimes gets put out of the bedroom for attacking feet under the covers!  She is very pampered and spoiled by her three big brothers, ages 10, 6, and 1 ½,  who love to feed her treats and give her toys.  The whole family enjoys watching her do fierce battle with her feather balls or with her beloved rooster puppet (see picture), which she carries around the house in her mouth.  She also loves to sit on a lap and watch someone work on the computer, occasionally batting at the mouse cursor.  She even has her own file of favorite kitty websites book marked on the web browser.  Another favorite activity is jumping into the sink or bathtub, then tracking wet paw prints all over the place.

She has been loving toward the whole family, and surprisingly patient with 1 ½ year old Eli’s “affections”.  He is VERY devoted to her (as seen in the other picture) and loves to pet her, hug her, and try to pick her up.  She seems to recognize that he means well even though he’s sometimes a little rougher than she would like. Eli calls for her first thing when we get home and talks about her to anyone who’ll listen.

She really has been a perfect fit for our family, and has greatly enhanced our home.  We are so glad we found her at StreetCats.

Just wanted to let you know how well Chamomile (aka Aurora) is doing as the Tea & Magnolias shop kitty.  She has become quite the attraction at the RiverWalk Crossing.  She has customers who already come in and ask for her by name!  When someone comes through the door, if they don't notice her within the first couple of minutes, Chamomile strolls over to them and meows a couple of times.  After all, she's certain that she is the only reason people stop by.

Our web guy put her on our web site.  Go to teaandmagnolias.com and click on the "About Us" page - scroll to the bottom and there she is!

 Thanks,

Sugars

We just wanted to say "hello" to everyone at Streetcats and to let you know how Sugar has been doing.

In March, it will be a year since we adopted Sugar. I can't believe how much she has changed since that time. Sugar has grown quite a bit and gained some much needed weight. She is such a good cat, that we really can't picture our lives without her involved in every aspect.

Sugar got to experience Christmas and she really loved the tree. You could constantly finding her hiding behind presents or curled up on the tree skirt for a much needed nap. She loved getting presents as well, especially anything that was catnip filled or involved feathers!

Our girls, Haleigh (8) and Averee (6), have truly become some of Sugar's favorite playmates. Most games involve hide and seek, which is Sugar's favorite. She always can be found with the girls, either in their room playing or lying close by. When my oldest got sick recently and was lying in her bed, Sugar played second Mommy by constantly checking in on Haleigh and even snuggling close while Haleigh slept. She is such a sweetie.

Honestly, I can't say enough about Sugar. She is a member of our family and we can't thank you enough for everything you did for her. I am enclosing some current pictures I thought you would enjoy.

Once again THANK YOU so much for our beloved furry friend!!

Sincerely,

Michael, Kellie, Haleigh, Averee and Sugar

Chloe
(aka Darlene)

Chloe (previously Darlene) has been with me now for a week and half.  She has become the baby (or should I say Ruler!) of the household!  She has slept with me since the first night I brought her home and I'm finally able to sleep through most of the night despite her love pats and kisses at 2:00 am!  She's the perfect fit for myself and my roommate - wonderfully lazy and cuddly at times but silly and extremely playful at others.  (There are fuzzy toy mice hidden under every chair in the house!)  She loves everybody who comes to visit and never seems to know a stranger.  One of her favorite games right now is hiding under the bed or under the blankets and then pouncing on me without notice!  (Picture attached)  After each pounce she expects to be loved on and rubs on my legs until I give in!

Since she was our little "Christmas Kitty" we had a little photo session with her while putting up Christmas decorations.  That's the other picture I'm sending you.  After we humiliated her with this she went off and pouted under a bookshelf for a few minutes.  However she continues to love having her picture taken!

By the way, I didn't adopt Chloe, she adopted me...I went to look at 3 other kittens but Chloe crawled in my lap the minute I walked in the room and stole the show!  Thanks Chloe!

Thanks so much for this wonderful kitten!  She is truly loved!

 Lana

 p.s.  Chloe sends her love!

Dec. 2005

We adopted Sir (formerly Kung Pao) a couple months ago and he has turned out to be the perfect cat for us. We waited to name him until he decided on a name for himself. He is an extremely vocal cat who "yells" at me every morning until I get out of bed and feed him, I ended up just saying "yes sir, I'll get up now." He's also figured out that if he sleeps on my stomach I can't breath and I wake up. He has adjusted perfectly to us and is very well behaved. We did not have to train him at all he seems to have already understood where he is and is not allowed. In spite of his size he is the biggest 'fraidy cat I've ever seen. We had a rat get in the house and he took one look at it (it being maybe a tenth of his size) and hid under our bed for two days! He has gotten over it now and is just as happy as he can be and so are we. Thank you for all the work you do!!

Tag (Brittney), Morded & Punkin
(aka Calvin & Hobbes)
|

Dear Street Cats of Tulsa,

Just a note to give you an update on Calvin & Hobbes, who we renamed to Mordred and Punkin. They are a delightful addition to our family and they are the perfect match for our household. As you can see in the attached photo, Tag, our baby boy Brittany, has taken to his new pets quite nicely. This was due entirely to the fact that Mordred and Punkin are not afraid of the dogs and are well adjusted, loving pussergs. They are quite extraordinary and we love them very much.  Mordred is completely oblivious to water and has hopped into and *stayed* in the shower with both myself and my husband. His unconcern with water has made the water bottle useless for training him. Punkin is an angel and has only to be told once to jump down from somewhere. Punkin is also a prankster in that he will randomly and without provocation bite the heck out of whoever is near sometimes. He did that to Tag's tummy when we were all lazing around one night watching TV.  Poor Tag started up and looked at Punkin as if to ask "what the ?!*(#!?" We all laughed, of course, because it wasn't any of us that had gotten bitten. When he did the same thing to me on the head, though, I didn't laugh quite so heartily. ;)

In summary, they are both charming, sweet, loving, entertaining, brave, curious, challenging, and complete joys!  Anyway, thank you again for your assistance and for taking the time to make such a great match. We are fortunate and thrilled with the newest family members and already cannot imagine our lives without them!

Sincerely,

Morgen Hickey & Mike Hill

Dear Street Cats:

I adopted Jasmine a year ago come November. I didn't know if I was making the right choice at first but once I bought her home she turned my house upside down. I can't walk through a room without stepping on one of her toys. It didn't take her long before she claimed my yarn basket as hers. And she likes to dig for socks in the dirty clothes, chew on them, then carry them to her food dish where I find one sock almost every morning. The house is hardly quiet because she is a very vocal cat. I call her my carpet kitty because she likes to lay in front of the sliding glass door and sunbathe. She is my baby and I love her very much.  Thank you StreetCats for a wonderful cat.

Sincerely,

Hilerey Sample and Jasmine Kitty

Scarlett

Attached are pictures of our Street Cats alumni Boomer and Scarlett. We adopted Boomer (formerly known as Norman) 2 years ago in May. Scarlett joined our family 2 weeks ago. Both are very lovable and great additions to our home. No pictures yet of the 2 of them together...Scarlett is still a little shy of Boomer, but he's patiently waiting for her to be his pal. Keep up the good work at Street Cats. You're performing a wonderful service.

Lily

Dear Street Cats:

I wanted to send you an update on our babies.  We adopted Lily in November 2004 as a companion for our cat, Kirby.  Lily has been a delightful girl.  We love her dearly.  Kirby was a bit jealous at first but he came around and he grew to love her too.  We lost our Kirby to feline leukemia at the ripe old age of 3.  Still don't really know how he caught it since our cats stay indoors.  We miss him very very much and Lily was lonely without him.

Guinevere
(aka Angel)

So the search was on for a new sibling...we found our Lady Guinevere (formerly Angel) in late May after it was safe to add a new cat and the virus would be dead.  She is quite a character.  She is still pretty small in comparison to Lily.  You will be very surprised to see how much Lily has grown!  Not only in length but around!  Lily LOVES to eat and to talk.

We decided to change Angel's name.  My 17 year old daughter (who at the time was a junior at Memorial High School taking AP English) was reading a book about King Arthur.  The name Guinevere seemed to suit her since she is such a "princess."  We call her Guine (pronounced Gwenie) for short.  She loves to sleep on pillows and is very opinionated.

The "girls" are very special to us and we enjoy their antics.  They romp and play and of course there is some hissing and such - just like with human sisters.  We are very glad to have them be a part of our family.

Miss Sugar

I just wanted to drop a line to let you know how much we love Miss Sugar. She has instantly taken her seat as the fifth member of our family and it is like she knows that she is finally home. She has had an immediate connection to everyone, especially our 2 daughters, which is surprising since it was unknown if she had been around children.

Sugar has a lot of jobs. Her favorite is waking the girls up for school in the morning. She comes into their room, climbs up on the bed and purrs them awake. After each child says good morning to her, they receive a meow in response. This began the FIRST morning she was here. Sugar loves to stretch out in the top bunk bed in our daughter's room and can normally be found there once the girls are home from school. She has even taken claim to a window as her favorite sunny spot. In the evenings, once our children go to bed, she will come and choose a lap to stretch out and cuddle in, while we watch television. Her personality fits our family so well, that there really has been no adjustment period needed. I find that funny, while my husband claims it was just meant to be.

We feel so lucky to have found her and want to thank you so much for all of the care you gave to her. I am enclosing some current pictures of Miss Sugar on her new "kitty sill" for her favorite window spot.

Sincerely,

The Bassett Family

Ricki

Hello, My name is Altha Victorino, the owner of Ricki. He is doing great. He is the "man" of the house but my husband has a different opinion. Ricki has so much love all he has to do is meow and 5 people come running. He is very spoiled and loving it. He even sleeps in the bed when he thinks we are not paying attention. I have attached a couple of pictures of my baby. Thank you so much for the much needed addition to our family.

(aka Dolly)

My name is Sherri Lynn Keller, the new owner of Star.  Star is doing fine. She is getting used to having another cat to play with. She is slowing sleeping in bed with me. She and the other cat named Squeekers are very spoiled. Star is very  camera shy. I will try and get some pictures and send them to you. Thanks again for Star.

Dear Street Cats,

Just a note to let you know how much we are enjoying the little cat we got from you in about April of 2004.  At that time, her name was “Trixie.”  However, because her markings resembled a beloved cat that we had a few years ago, my daughter decided to rename her “Echo,” because she was “an echo” from the past.  Little Echo has brought us much joy.  I am happy to say she is thriving—perhaps thriving a little too much!  If she keeps gaining weight we may have to put her on a diet!  She is quite at home in her surroundings now and she and our other cat are fast friends.  Thank you for the work you do for the community and thank you for bringing Echo into our lives.  We love her so much.

My husband sent you a small donation.  I am attaching a photo of Echo and her adopted big brother, Jude, curled up in my laundry hamper.  You have a great website.

Sincerely,
Cynthia Burdyn

Hello from Kami Sue and Isaiah!!  (aka Callie Rose and Tigger)

Just a quick note to tell you how much fun we're having at our new home!!   I hope you can see our pictures.  We love game boxes!!  Our people get games out all the time and we just LOVE getting in the boxes and carrying off various game pieces!! Sometimes we slide across the game and scatter stuff everywhere!!  That is REALLY fun!  I (Isaiah) have almost taught the dogs who is boss but my mom won't let me invade their "turf" to prove it!  She thinks I'm too little!! One of the rats (Spice) and I have a love/hate relationship.  I whap at her little head and she bites at my toes...basically we've decided we don't care for each other!  The other one (Sugar) and I get along o.k.  Kami and I love playing and wrestling with each other and are so happy that we got adopted together.  We hope Oreo and Cookie (our brothers) are doing o.k. and are having as much fun as we are!

We'll send more updates later!!
Love to all!

Yoko

August 2004
Hello, I wanted to give you an update on "Yoko". We adopted her on April 2, 2004 and she is doing really really well!! She is of course very spoiled but we would not have it any other way. My husband is also very attached to her as well so I don't know who spoils her the most! Yoko at first was very clingy as far as following your every step, but she has settled and I think she knows now that we are not going anywhere. I look at her sometimes and think "how could anybody put her out on the street and not think twice about how she would survive." We want to thank you guys so much for taking such good care of her for the year you had her and thank you to the young lady who talked to me about Yoko when I actually came in to check on another cat!! Yoko said hello and thank you for taking her in when she needed a home.

April 2004

I just wanted to let someone know that Yoko is adjusting quite well. She loves to follow me around! She hid the first hour home but after that she was running the house doing a lot of exploring. By bedtime I think she knew she was finally home. She slept in the bed with us until she had enough, then she moved on to better things. I am at work right now and already miss her!  My husband has also fallen for her. She has, in 2 days, brought a lot of love into our home and we are so glad to have her. I will keep you updated on her progress but I know that she is going to do just fine.

I thought you might want an update on how our favorite cats are doing. They are so perfect for our family. They love us, our home and the attention we give them. We love to watch them cuddle, hug, kiss, primp and wrestle.

Here are a few pictures we took today while they were sleeping together. Can you tell who the boss really is?

Mr. Smith

Just wanted to let you know that Mr. Smith, the cat we adopted in Aug of 01, is still doing great.  He rules the roost as most cats do.  He is as fat as ever and gets more spoiled everyday.  Just wanted to thank you for doing what you all do.  Keep up the good work.

Poppie (aka Lollipop)

Our newest member of the family...Poppie (aka: Lollipop). She's cuddly and loves to snuggle. We actually waited for HER to adopt US, and this is how: We let her be, and have full run of the house (mainly at night so not to be disturbed). She now has totally won all of our hearts over, and is the "Queen of the Manor." I am thankful for the volunteers at Street Cats (Tulsa) for the opportunity to allow us to give the love we have as a family, to a wonderful pet that didn't have a choice. If Poppie had a choice in families to adopt, I would hope and pray it would be OUR family...we love her so!

Street Cats (Tulsa), we thank you!

Albert

Albert sends a Valentine with Mom's note.  Albert is wonderful.... We love him very much!!

Pinafore (aka Penny)

This is just a little note to let you know that I am just as feisty as ever, but also very happy now. There was a rumor going around that I was a mean cat. The truth is, I was just a little nervous and unhappy being in a cage and around so many other cats and commotion ... so having my own home has made a big difference in my mood.

My new home is not a palace, but it is plenty big enough for me to get up to full speed when I run in circles. ... There are several window seats that I enjoy ... . From that position, I can also keep an eye on the gall that I allow to live with me and make sure she isn’t eating anything that should go to me. ...

Sometimes she forgets that I get the first bite of cheese or that I prefer the Animal Planet channel to TBS. She has a good attitude, though, and she is pretty good to cuddle with at night when it gets cold. I can tell she thinks I am the most beautiful and wonderful cat in the world, and, of course, she is right! ...

Meowy Christmas,
Pinafore (aka Penny)

Thanks to StreetCats, I was able to get 16 [of Grandma’s] cats spayed or neutered and placed four of them in new homes here in Texas. You should all be very proud of the contribution you are making to your community.

Ricochet
(aka Whiskers)

December 2003
It's me again, Ricohet (aka Whiskers) writing my fourth annual thank-you letter.  I've had another very busy year.

Cozy was with us for just a year when she got very sick and died in March.  We were all very sad.  Libby and I sat outside her room for a week and she never came back.

And speaking of Libby, Mom finally admitted she gets into more trouble than I ever did.  She flies around the house so fast sometimes she doesn't even make the corners.  She always wants to play.  And she doesn't like rules.  She's wild!  I delegated some of my responsibilities to her hoping to keep her occupied and out of trouble.  She does like monitoring the birds and squirrels, but it hasn't kept her out of trouble.

Then in August our 15 year old cousin came from Connecticut to live with us.  My Aunt and Uncle went to live in Sweden and for some reason Peaches couldn't go with them.  I was not too happy to have another new housemate.  She wanted to know everything and be a part of everything.  I decided this was another job for Libby.  At first I thought things were working out pretty well.  Then I noticed they were having too much fun.  So now I am helping Libby with Peaches.

Thank you again for taking me in when I was homeless.  I can really appreciate your efforts now.  Keep up the good work!

Love, Richochet

December 2002

It’s me again, Ricochet (aka Whiskers), writing my third annual thank-you letter. It has been a very busy year. As you know, my companion Napoleon died just before Christmas last year. I missed him very much. Mom promised me a new friend. ...

Then she brought Cozy home. Apparently, her Dad died and she had no place to live. I was not happy. She didn’t look at all like me or Napoleon. Her face is half black and half orange, black and white. She has short little legs and she bounces when she walks. Very uncatlike. After six weeks, when it became obvious she was here to stay, I decided to make the best of it. I’ve been trying very hard to make friends. She likes to play, but not with me. Mom says she is old and always lived alone, so I must be patient with her. I think I am making progress.

Then there’s Libby. She was a tiny kitten who couldn’t remember where she lived. So now, of course, she lives with us too. At least she looks like me! But she’s always racing around and wanting to play. And she gets into so much trouble. Mom says I was the same way when I was little, but I’m sure I wasn’t this bad. ...

Anyway, thanks again for helping me out when I was homeless. And keep up the good work because I can’t imagine any more sisters right now!

Love, Richochet

Amelia Joann
(aka: Amy--Amiga)

Amelia Joann aka: Amy--Amiga to you, is the grump of the group, but a loveable grump. Sometimes she plays with the younger two real well and others she just reaches out and swats them in normal cat behavior.

Jellybean
(aka JB or Mr. Bean)

I just wanted to let some one know that Yoko is adjusting quite well, She loves to follow me around ! She hid the first hour home but after that she was running the house doing a lot of exploring. By bedtime I think she new she was finally home. she slept in the bed with us until she had enough, then she moved on to better things. I am at work right now and already miss her ! )Jellybean, aka JB or Mr. Bean (we kept that name because we liked it) is the tallest of the group. He's going to be a big boy. He towers over his Mama. He also demands that when we are setting on the sofa the spot next to the human leg is his. It's funny watching him literally wedge himself down between whatever girl is there and the leg to make sure he gets the human touch spot.  Right now all three are curled up in a sunbeam near my computer. They've got a rug there and fight over the choice spot a lot. All three sleep on the bed with us and have finally learned that Gary does not appreciate them square on his feet. Next to them yes, on them no!

Lizzy B

Lizzy B tends to be the spoiled baby though. I think my biggest laugh so far with the cats was with Lizzy Bit. We have a big screen tv and one day there was a commercial for computer nerds on. It was one with a sing along that had the little bouncing ball of white on the screen. Lizzy was sitting right at the tv her little head bouncing as she followed the ball in motion, up and down, back and forth. It was hilarious, I hated for the commercial to end. Jellybean is a real tv watcher, but he's never been as funny about it as Liz was that day. So as you can see by this long missive all three are doing well and are very much loved. Jan who thanks you for her babies in OK.

Miss Astor
(aka Darjeeling)

After having our beloved cat "Rusty" for 19 years, I did not think it possible to find another cat we could love as we did her.

After a considerable period of time.  I decided I might like to have another cat...I knew the feeling had to be just right.  I checked the Flea Market numerous times but the feeling was not right!! I noticed in the paper you would be at Border Book Store at 81st and Yale and made a mental note to stop by...The minute I walked through the door I was looking straight in her eyes and she was mine...I knew immediately I had found my cat.  I watched her, petted through the cage, got her out and carried her to the back of the store to get her away from people...and that was it...I immediately ran home and told my husband I had found her (you were holding her for me to talk with my husband) of course, he said fine.  This was on a Saturday and I picked her up on Monday.

I was told she was very skittish and had been use to a very quiet environment....We will have had her 3 years this July 17th, and I have been meaning to write you forever to tell you how much we love her.

She is definitely not skittish nor shy...however, she does enjoy her quiet environment...and immediately disappears if children are here...Now, you are probably wondering who this cat is...I am the lucky one that adopted "Darjeeling", probably the most beautiful cat you ever had...However, my husband has renamed her "Miss Astor" because he said she has an air about her and she is definitely the "Boss", we just pay the mortgage.

Everyone that meets her immediately says, "What a Beautiful Cat"... She immediately rolls over on her back and says, "Well, if you would like you could pet my belly"...

Miss Astor gives us so much love, attention and company...just wanted you to know how much we love her and I am always telling everyone to come to StreetCats...

I am enclosing a couple of photos of her so you can remember which cat I am talking about.  Thanks so much for taking Miss Astor into your shelter and caring for her until we found her!

Willie
(aka Malinko)

Hello to all my friends at StreetCats! Remember me, the kitty formerly known as Malinko? Well a few things have changed for me since I was adopted. My new family calls me Willie, Willie Nelson that is! I live with my new family Kara, Keith, and Krisa in Tahlequah. I am very happy there. A normal day for me is waking up really early. My family isn't awake yet, so I take this opportunity to wake them up by chewing in their hair. Once the day gets going I like to sit on the window and watch the birds and rabbits, and to play with my mice. That makes me really tired so I take a few cat naps to rest me up for bed time. My favorite person in the house is Kara. She feeds me my treats all the time, and helps me find my mice when I lose them. I love my new new home and family, and I would just thank all my friends at StreetCats for taking care of me until I found a home.

With kitty kisses,
Willie, Kara, Keith and Krisa

Cinder

I wanted to share a story with you to let you know how much one of your cats has meant to my mother and dad.

My parents (Kenneth and Freda Sumner) had always had a cat in their home, but after their last one died at an old age several years ago, they decided that they did not want to go through that heartache again.  I had tried unsuccessfully for a long time to talk them into getting another cat.  I knew that all research shows that elderly people do much better with a pet in the house.

On August 1st, 2002, I went to their home in Bristow and told them that I gone to the StreetCats location at the Farm Shopping Center and had seen a cat that I wanted them to go see.  The next day, I drove to Bristow, picked them up, brought them to Tulsa and we picked up a beautiful black cat named Cinder.  They loved her immediately, but it seemed that the feeling was not mutual.  Cinder stayed under their bed for almost three weeks, coming out only during the night to eat, drink and used the litter pan.  After three weeks, she began to venture out for a few minutes at a time, but the slightest noise or movement would send her scurrying back under the bed.  Mother and Dad were growing discouraged and even considered at one point taking her back and trading her in for another cat!  They felt by her actions that she had probably been abused at some point and didn't know if she would ever recover.  But, they decided to give her more time, and the continued to look for ways to show her that she was safe now.

I wish you could see Cinder now.  I have never seen a more beautiful, content, spoiled cat!  My mother, who is eighty-eight years old, has a great deal of difficulty getting around, and Cinder sits with her on the sofa most of the day.  She rolls over when Dad tells her to and sometimes sleeps in the middle of the living room floor on her back with her feet sticking up in the air!  Dad has build her a carpet covered bench so that she can sit by the bedroom window to watch the birds.  She is completely at home and is the center of their attention!

But, the main reason I wanted write this letter is because of what my dad said yesterday while I was down there visiting.  He was telling me about all of her "tricks" and said that Cinder was better than any medicine that a doctor could have given him.  Mother said that she gets such enjoyment just watching Cinder walk across the room.

Cinder has truly brought a new meaning to their lives and I just wanted you to know that your agency is responsible for that!

Sincerely, Anita Wilkerson
